The Multicultural Alliance for Technology, Research, and Information Exchange (MATRIX) is modeled after my research on the biomatrix molecule hyaluronic acid (HA). The image below was formed from the hydration and then dehydration of HA fragments. This self-assembling bio-matrix wheel serves as a model for my community college-university research collaboration.
Program information on ATOMS, FUSION, and the MATRIX is contained in the articles published below
My MATRIX vision (1991-2006) was integrated into the MIT UROP at the Ctr. for Materials Science and Eng in 2006. See MIT LINKS (1),(2:see p.3-45)
Ray Turner and Paula Robinson NSF Workshop on Improving Undergraduate Education in the Mathematical and Physical Sciences through the Use of Technology (1999) “What are new paradigms for undergraduate research?” pages 41-42. We presented one of the first models for global learning involving free-access to on-line resources involving the people. Our "hub model" preceded the current University of the People, which recently partnered with New York University, the Global Network University.
The MATRIX Network is a connected learning community. This connectivity involves information transfer for learning purposes (e-learning resources) and human interaction through internship and mentoring. This program was patterned after the Crystal Matrix, which is my view of the connectivity and organization of all vibrations before and after they take form. See MIT report (see section on collaboration and outreach on page 3-55)
